Melandri scores his second race win
Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike) took his second win of the year after leading when it really counted as his rival Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) made a small slip a few laps from the end. The margin of victory from Marco to Max was 1.5 seconds.
Leon Camier (Aprilia Alitalia) was a strong finishing third, and Eugene Laverty (Yamaha World Superbike) took fourth place in a close fight with Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team Superbike). Noriyuki Haga (Pata Aprilia) and top finishing local Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Racing Team) followed close behind those two.
Championship leader Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) fell while in a potential podium position, on lap eight. He had just set the fastest lap of the race and was pushing on to try and stay with the leading riders.
